The innovative combined foundation system makes possible the safe foundation of heavily loaded buildings on subsoil of small load carrying ability located particularly in earthquake areas or in the mining damage sectors. The system of the combined foundation developed recently by him is a turning-point of the technical solutions in this area of worldwide engineering innovations. The most important of his achievements is the two-stage method of statically indeterminate trusses and the method of secondary grid deformation; the last one was developed for the design of geodesic domes. He obtained the PhD degree in May 1982 at the Institute of Architecture and Town Planning at the Technical University of Wroclaw. In February 1993 he obtained a D.Sc. degree at the Department of Architecture of the Wroclaw University of Technology; the title of professor has been conferred on him by the decree of the President of the Republic of Poland issued in 8 June 2006.

He has also worked as the head of the Division of Structures and Building Engineering at the Department of Architecture of the Wroclaw University of Technology. Since 2008 he has been employed as the professor at The Tadeusz Kosciuszko Cracow University of Technology at the Faculty of Architecture.
In addition to the above positions he has also served as the Chairman of the Commission of Architecture and Town Planning of Wroclaw Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences from 2006 to 2010. He has been re-elected as the chairman of the Commission for the tenure 2011-2014. Also a member of numerous committees of domestic and foreign scientific conferences, a member of several editorial boards or panels of referees of domestic and international scientific journals, member of some international scientific societies including among others member of the Advisory Board of the International Society for Interdisciplinary Study of Symmetry (ISIS-SYMMETRY), member of the Research Board of Advisors of the American Biographical Institute (ABI), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA and a member of the Center of Excellence for Architectural Technology at the University of Tehran, in Iran.
He has given some invited lectures and numerous regular presentations during scientific conferences held in 20 countries. He has been granted a fellowship at the Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands (1984/1985) and by the JSPS fellowship at University of Tokyo, Japan (2001/2002).
